Theme #1 – Jurassic Brick Land
Are you ready for the adventure of a lifetime? Put on your hiking boots and camouflage…you’re about to enter Jurassic Brick Land! Students will build a world that comes to life with gentle Brontosaurus, ferocious Velociraptor, terrifying T. Rex, and more. We’ll learn about amazing dinosaurs that lived during the Jurassic period, and other extinct, prehistoric animals that roamed the earth and swam the seas during that era and millions of years later. Show us your building skills using our specialized project kits! Come learn, build and play at Jurassic Brick Land class!
Jan 2017 - Feb 2017
Theme #2 – Galaxy Far Away
Join us on an adventurous journey through space! Build a rocket to blast through the atmosphere into a realm that is truly out of this world. Build a world where rebels and the dark side start epic battles. We’ll build motorized models that represent spacecraft from your favorite popular space movie. We will also learn a lot about space along the way. Come experience this stellar journey to a galaxy far away!
Feb 2017 - Mar 2017
Theme #3 – Forces of Nature
Fasten your seat belts; we’re in for some wild weather! This unit is all about the amazing and wonderful forces of nature, as students explore the when, where, how and why of all kinds of natural phenomenon. There is a lot of geography in this unit — we’ll examine a map of the Pacific “Ring of Fire” where most tsunamis occur, view a diagram of the tectonic plates and learn how their movement creates earthquakes, define the area known as “Tornado Alley” in North America, and find out what hurricanes are called in different parts of the world. These lessons are designed to improve your child’s understanding of the forces of nature, while taking care not to alarm. Each model represents the motion of that particular weather or event, with a seat for a mini-figure to take in the action! Take cover because we’re about to take a trip through some wild weather! Kids will love to build moving models of a tornado, a tsunami, an earthquake and a cyclone. Learn how they move, why they happen and what you can do to stay safe!
Mar 2017 - Apr 2017
Theme #4 – Transportation Timeline
If you like planes, trains and automobiles, then this unit is for you! Each week, students will build motorized models of a dragster, a railroad crossing gate, an airplane and more. Explore the history of transportation from horse and buggy and trains to the development of the automobile and flight. Each lesson introduces terminology related to each mode of transportation, like “lift and propulsion” for the airplane, as well as describes how each “vehicle” works. And the best part is — the models are so much fun to play with! Lots of building fun ahead with motorized models of a train, car, dragster and airplane. These models rock, roll and spin! Your child can follow our step-by-step model plans to create their vehicle, then customize it to their own specifications and take their mini-figure for a ride!
May 2017 - June 2017
Theme #5 – Construction Craze
Put on your hard hat and head on over to our construction site! Make your own motorized models of tools of the trade from a hand-held power drill and power saw to a tough, all-terrain bulldozer and giant dump truck. Would you be surprised to learn that one of these objects has a history stretching from the Stone Age to the Space Age? And who thought of making a saw blade in the shape of a circle? Where does the word bulldozer come from? How big is the biggest dump truck? Build your knowledge of construction at Bricks 4 Kidz! Dump trucks, jackhammers, drills, power saws… build motorized models of these and other powerful tools and create your own LEGO construction site. Join us for lots of high-impact learning and fun!
June 2017 - July 2017
Theme #6 – Air, Land, Sea
Step aboard to build some exciting ways to get from here to there. Take to the sky in our Bricks 4 Kidz helicopter model, race across the beach in an ingenious land sail, or zoom through the water on a jet ski. Kids will learn what makes each machine unique and how it moves, exploring concepts such as buoyancy, propulsion, lift and g-forces! What other ways will you invent to travel through air, land and sea? Whether you’re a high-speed thrill-seeker or just curious about how things work, this unit offers something for everyone.
July 2017 - Sept 2017
Theme #7 – Laws Of Motion
Introduce kids to physics, including the “Laws of Motion” made famous by Sir Isaac Newton. By explaining terms like inertia and mass using simple words, Bricks 4 Kidz lessons give students a foundation for understanding concepts that they will delve deeper into in years to come. For now, they get to build fun stuff out of LEGO ® bricks and create a positive association that science is fun! During this unit, kids will launch paper footballs at targets with the catapult model, give their mini-figures a ride on motorized see-saw and swing-o-rama rides, and practice telling time as they build the clock model. At Bricks 4 Kidz, we know how to keep their hands and their minds busy! – Who says physics is boring? Test out some of Sir Isaac Newton’s Laws of motion with models that illustrate the concepts of inertia, force, mass, acceleration, and the observation that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. What will your reaction be to our Bricks 4 Kidz action-packed after school class? We doubt you’ll “stay at rest” with these challenging projects designed to accelerate the learning with the force of fun!
Sept 2017 – Oct 2017
Theme #8 – Cranium Contraption
Build and explore crazy contraptions that really work your brain! Students will use LEGO ® Bricks, axles, pulleys, gears and motors to create fun and interactive models. Compete with friends in a rousing game of battle tops or fooseball. Put your hand-eye coordination to the test with the ping pong popper model. Experiment with the Mini Fig Mover to see how this model will send your mini fig for a ride. All this and more are waiting to be discovered as students learn and play with Cranium Contraption.
Sept 2017 – Oct 2017
Theme #9 – Pirate’s Quest
Shiver me timbers as we explore the popular culture behind the life of a pirate! Build a motorized pirate ship, a helm and an anchor as we batten down the hatches and prepare for mutiny. Protect the hands on deck by building a launching trebuchet. Beware me mateys, if it’s too late, you must abandon ship and build a rowboat to escape. Watch out for crocodiles! Anchor aweigh!
Oct 2017 – Nov 2017
Theme #10 – Wheels in Motion
These wheels are ready to roll! Students will use LEGO® Bricks, axles, pulleys, gears, motors and more to build a variety of models on wheels. Some are familiar vehicles, such as a fire engine and delivery truck. Other amazing models, such as the Rescue Robot and K-9 Bot, will give students more to learn. Do you have a need for speed? Put your Speed Bot model to the test as you race against others using remote controls! We’ll explore concepts of speed and force, and gain non-vehicle knowledge from the unconventional Wheels in Motion models as well. Let’s roll!
